The Defence Intelligence College (DIC) is partnering with the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) to provide specialised postgraduate programmes.

Emmanuel Undiandeye, the chief of defence intelligence (CDI), disclosed this on Tuesday during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the management of UNN and DIC in Abuja.

Undiandeye said the partnership will boost the knowledge bank and expertise of the military, security, and intelligence personnel in the country.

Charles Igwe, vice chancellor of UNN, described the partnership as a significant one, while commending the DIC for the initiative.

Igwe promised that the university will maintain high standards in the course of the partnership.

“Universities are established to proffer solutions to some of the problems or challenges of the nation, and the proposed collaboration between DIC and UNN contributes to this regard,” Igwe said.

Also speaking, Freedom Onuoha, coordinator of UNN-DIC collaboration, said the proposed courses for the programmes will be developed to meet the contemporary needs of the intelligence community in Nigeria.

Onuoha explained that a committee has been established by the faculty to develop the new postgraduate programmes for approval by the university senate.

“The goal is to leverage the unique strengths of both institutions to produce a critical mass of human resources with robust intelligence backgrounds, capable of responding to current and evolving challenges to national security and defence,” Onuoha added.
