Social media reactions have trailed the resignation of Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on media and publicity.

In a statement on September 7, Ngelale said he would be embarking on an “indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters affecting his immediate, nuclear family”.

He also resigned from his position as the special presidential envoy on climate action.

The announcement has sparked reactions on X, with some Nigerians wishing him well and others questioning the reason for his resignation.

One user, Jaypee described Ngelale’s resignation as a good decision considering the complexities of his assignment.

On his part, Shehu Sani, former Kaduna senator, noted that Ajuri can “now rest well, sleep well, eat well, switch off his phone and even add some weight”.

Joe Abah, a former director-general of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), took to the microblogging platform to describe Ngelale as “approachable and helpful”.

“Ajuri Ngelale has stepped down from his government roles for personal and family reasons. I always found him to be approachable and helpful, particularly in his climate envoy role. I wish him well,” he wrote.
