Deportivo goalkeeper Uzoho gets first Super Eagles call-up

Former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has received his first Super Eagles call-up.

The call-up is coming ahead of the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the high profile international friendly with Argentina.

Spanish La Liga side, Deportivo La Corunna, confirmed Uzoho’s invitation on its website on Monday.

“Francis Uzoho, the goalkeeper who recently made his official debut in the RC Deportivo jersey, has been called for the first time by the Nigerian team, for the last qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and a friendly match.

“Francis, who made his debut in LaLiga Santander two weeks ago in Eibar and continued in the home game against Girona, has been called by the Federation of Nigeria for matches against Algeria and Argentina, on November 10 and 14, respectively.”

Uzoho made his first team debut on October 15, starting in a 0–0 away draw against SD Eibar.

He represented Nigeria’s U17 team at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup. Then 14, he served as the second goalkeeper to Dele Alampasu.
