Haruna Momoh, former managing director of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), who reportedly showed up at the Charring Cross, London, on Monday, has denied the report.
He was said to have been arrested with Diezani Alison-Madueke on Friday.
Momoh told TheCable there is no truth in the report and he was expecting the BBC reporter to retract the story and apologise to him.
“It is a case of mistaken identity,” he said on the phone.

Momoh, an ally of the former minister of petroleum resources, was reportedly under watch for a while and was even placed on a visa ban by the American government, Sam Piranty, a BBC correspondent had tweeted.

But shortly after, he retracted the tweet.
I’ve been contacted and told that despite three journos saying otherwise, it was not Haruna Momoh that we saw. I’m awaiting details — Sam Piranty (@sampiranty) October 5, 2015

Piranty also reported that many reporters were converging on the station on Monday morning in anticipation of the arrival of Alison-Madueke and the others that were arrested on Friday by International Corruption Unit of UK’s National Crimes Agency.
