Senate goes into closed session ahead of budget passage

The senate has gone into a closed door session ahead of the passage of the 2017 budget.

The budget report was laid on Tuesday and Senate President Bukola Saraki said it will be considered and passed on Thursday.

Passage of the budget was the first item on the order paper on Thursday, but after taking prayers, Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central moved a motion on the demise of Ahmadu Chanchangi, a businessman.

The consideration and passage of the 2017 budget report was supposed to follow but the senators went into a closed session.

President Muhammadu Buhari presented a budget estimate of N7.30 trillion to a joint session of the national assembly on December 14.

The national assembly jerked up the budget by ‎N143 billion, which puts the figures at N7.44 trillion.
