VIDEO: Youth chanting anti-Melaye song block road to his hometown

Some youth from Kogi west senatorial district are currently at Okebukun, a community in Kabba/Bunnu local government, awaiting the convoy of Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing the district.

The embattled lawmaker is said to be in Lokoja, capital of the state, where he is meeting his supporters in a bid to prevent his recall.

One of the youth at Okebukun told TheCable that Melaye would be denied access to Ayetoro-Gbede, his hometown.

In a video, young men who lit bonfire, were seen chanting anti-Melaye songs.

On Saturday, voters in the seven local government areas that make up his senatorial district crowded polling units in the area to endorse the request for the recall of Melaye.

But the senator, who accused his opponent of masterminding the act, boasted that the move to recall him will fail.

“Quote me, Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has released N200 million for each of the seven local government areas in my senatorial district to facilitate my recall from the Senate,” Melaye alleged.

From certificate scandal to allegation of bribing a judge, Melaye has been involved in different controversies of late.
