The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) says the air component of operation Hadin Kai, has killed three “notorious terrorist commanders” in Marte LGA of Borno.

Edward Buba, director of defence media operation, spoke in Abuja on Thursday while giving an update on the activities of the army.

Buba said the three terrorists –Abacha, Bakura and Babangida — were discovered dead after the airstrike conducted around a remote village at Arinna Woje.

He said 22 other terrorists were killed during the operation conducted on February  19, adding that the troops killed about 30 fighters in a separate operation Gidan Ganki, in Katsina state.

Buba said the troops recovered motorcycles hidden in an abandoned building during the operation.

“On same day, seven motorcycle-riding terrorists were also neutralised at Gidan Guga in Katsina,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“On Feb. 24, air interdiction was conducted at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina. Feedback received confirmed that over 20 terrorists were neutralised.”

The director of defence media said a notorious leader of kidnappers identified as David Okpolowu, also known as “2 Baba”, who has been terrorising residents in Rivers state has been killed.

He said Okpolowu was killed in an airstrike in Ahoada forest.

He added that the airstrike was conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian police in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.
