A group of Igbo women, under the aegis of Umuada Igbo Nigeria And In Diaspora, has asked federal and state governments to provide more employment opportunities for People living With Disabilities (PWDs).
The association urged governments at all levels to make microcredit available for PWDs to enable them start businesses.
Lolo Kate Ezeofor, the president-general and founder of the group, made the plea during the first Christmas charity programme for PWDs which held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Godfrey Okoye university, Enugu state.
Ezeofor said that PWDs should be cared for and encouraged by the public. She added that governments need to do more for PWDs.

Umuada Igbo Nigeria And in Diaspora is an umbrella body of Umuada (women) of Igboland from seven Igbo-speaking states namely Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Delta, Imo and Rivers; and Igbo women living in other states and abroad.
“Umuada Igbo Nigeria and in Diaspora are pleading with federal and state governments to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities and give them microcredit to start up their various business enterprises,” she said.
She added that apart from Christmas charity outreach, the organisation also visited some hospitals and paid the bills of the needy to enable them enjoy Christmas.

She enjoined President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
She said his detention is causing chaos in Igboland.
