Diezani: I want NNPC forensic audit report published but rabid opposition might politicise it

Diezani Alison-Madueke, minister of petroleum resources, says she is not opposed to the release of the full forensic audit report on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

In an interview with Financial Times of London, she, however, added that the “rabid” opposition may find some minute detail to raise concern even though she has nothing to fear.

Only highlights of the audit, carried out by PwC, have been released to the public so far, with no indications that $20billion is missing.

Rather, the report said only $1.48billion was yet to be remitted to the national coffers by the corporation, according to the excerpts.

But the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded that the entire report be made public.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), had alleged that the NNPC illegally withheld $20bn from government coffers between January 2012 and July 2013.

Alison-Madueke told FT that both she and President Goodluck Jonathan would not oppose publication of the report.

She said there were “pros and cons” to publishing the full findings, saying the “rabid opposition” might “find all sorts of minute detail to create concern”.

  1. Who is fooling who? I don’t have much to say, but I believe they must have doctored it. But as the partridge sits on eggs and hatches them not, so he/she that gathers riches and not by right shall leave them in the midst of their days and at his/her end shall be a fool.

    1. Nigerians must learn to make responsible criticism. Do you know the implication of saying PWC report is doctored?

Please let us watch what we say. Obasanjo had no Minister of Petroleum for 8 years and nobody knew how much was produced, sold and to whom and the sky did not fall? People are ashamed that this report is out and you talk of doctored report by one of the world’s best accounting group.

Please if we have to be developed we had better rise above gutter politics based on tribal sentiments and myopic agenda.

      1. “Please if we have to be developed we had better rise above gutter politics based on tribal sentiments and myopic agenda” and in developed countries the minister determines whether an audit reports is to be published in full or in part?

  2. aI THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE FULL REPORT TO CONFIRM IF TRULY THERE IS FULL DISCLOSURE
I HOPE THE WHOLE THING IS NOT JUST GABBAGE IN GABBAGE OUT
PWC WILL ONLY WORK WITH WHAT WAS GIVEN TO THEM AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANY MAGIC IF NNPC DOES NOT DO FULL DISCLOSURE
    GOD BLESS NIGERIA

  3. Better to publish the full report so Nigerians can have an informed opinion on same. Transparency in governance is sine-qua-non.

  4. bible says that when a king has a lieing lips, his officials becomes wicked. so i want to ask where will nnpc get this 1.4billion dollars they agreed they unremitted to federation account and pay to nigeria? or will they export another our domestic crude before they pay ?niger shine ur eyes, this is purely robbing peter and paying paul. a thieve is a thieve on quote GEJ

  5. Clear conscience fears no accusation. Good wine needs no bush and clear conscience never fears midnight knocking. A word is enough for the wise.

  6. Go sit down if you don’t want rabid opposition why not release the full report Madam minister, what are you fearing? If you did not release the full audit report it doesn’t make the report forensic. You people why are you concerned with only non remittance of crude sales, what of other areas of wastes that are happening daily in NNPC? We need a total heliscophic audit report in NNPC. And you Mimii you deserve that your name, don’t make us look like fools, am sure you’re among those who think that all is well in NNPC, please shut up your mouth is you don’t know anything. No bi so “ABI” Mini

  7. It baffles me why we politicize almost everything and make mountain out of mule hill. Why do we jump the gun always in an attempt to call the dog a bad name in order to crucify it? Mimi Abi is broadminded because he hit a salient point when he referred to Obasanjo era when he doubled as the President and Petroleum Minister thereby (replicating what Mamman Gadaffi did in Libya) and nobody could ask questions and where they did no answer was given and indeed, the sky did not fall. Let’s be patient until we read the publication whether in part or in full rather than making mountain out mule hill or jumping the guns in the process. Let’s be wise and peaceful in our approach to national issues rather than washing our ‘dirty’ linings in the public in the eyes of comity of nations who often use these against us while concealing their own domestic problems from us.

  8. It is not in your place madam to determine what can be done with the report. And labelling an opposition political party rabid is prejudicial. This shows you simply approve of the rot in the system.

  9. Madam u are just trying to be clean but I dont know why u can not invite ur auditor in Nigeria not all auditor in our country will take bribe those dat audit u patches ur back and what u want to publish is nothing but a 419 report when u leave dat office today u will be ashamed of ur self because u will not be jail trust me u will vomit both home and ur
abroad stolen money and all those u are using to
    steal will expose u.

  10. Does 2 wrongs make a right? This is a sheer sentiment tone that Obasanjo ruled for 8 years without a petroleum minister, therefore, Allison-Madueke shouldn’t account for the alleged missing $20 billion nor the full forensic audit report shouldn’t be make public? And some of us agreed this is ‘rabid’ opposition, gutter politics and this practice will lead us to a greater development? God save and bless Nigeriaaaaaaaa!
