Awarded in June 2009, by the ministry of power, the Lambar windmill project, with 37 turbines, is designed to generate 10 megawatts (MW) of electricity for Katsina state.

According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the project initially had a 12-month timeline for completion, due to a security-related incident in 2012 at the peak of execution, the work was delayed for a protracted time.

The project has since missed several completion deadlines.
