District head shot dead in Katsina

Suspected bandits have shot dead 60-year-old Abu Atiku, district head of Yantumaki in Danmusa local government area (LGA) of Katsina state.

Gambo Isah, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Katsina.

Isah said the attackers invaded the area on Sunday at about 11:55 pm with AK47 rifles and attacked the residence of the deceased, where he was shot dead.

The PPRO added that the attackers also shot Gambo Chakau, his security guard, before they fled into the forest.

He explained that the victims were rushed to Danmusa General Hospital for treatment, where the district head was confirmed dead.

He added that the security guard is responding to treatment.

Suspected bandits also attacked some communities in Batsari LGA of the state, and killed the council’s All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman.
