‘The heartbreak is too much’ — DJ Cuppy dumps Arsenal

Florence Otedola, a Nigerian disk jockey (DJ) better known as Cuppy, says she has ended her six years relationship with Arsenal FC.

The development comes at about the same time when Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, had vented his frustration at his players.

The London club, on Saturday, conceded two late goals to lose against Brighton, a relegation-threatened side — handing them their second defeat since the restart of the English Premier League (EPL).

Cuppy, in an emotional laden video on her Twitter page, expressed disappointment over the loss, while stating that she could no longer stay in a “toxic” relationship with the London club.

“Official @Arsenal Breakup Statement From Florence Ifeoluwa Cuppy Otedola,” she captioned the tweet.

In the video clip, she said: “I understand a lot of people are upset about my decision to leave after six years being a gunner.

“I wanted to come and explain my situation. The heartbreak is too much. I can’t do it anymore.

“After today’s loss. There’s so much I can take during this difficult time, I’d like the press to respect the privacy of myself and Cup cakes as we find a new home.

“I am not ready to move on. I don’t want to move too fast. I have to find a place I can call my football club.

“So, please respect me as I make this decision. I know that there’s a lot of rumour but I am not ready to move on. So, respect my decision.”

Cuppy, the daughter of Femi Otedola, Nigerian business mogul, had prior to the match, wrote: “If @Arsenal lose today, NOBODY on Twitter should beg me to stay o! Face with look of triumph #BHAARS #COYG.”

After the match against the Graham Potter’s boys, she added: “‘It’s not me, It’s you. Only so much heartbreak a girl can take, @arsenal, I can no longer stay in this toxic relationship.”

In an earlier post, the disc jokey had expressed soft spot for Manchester United, a rival club to Arsenal. It, however, remains to be seen if she would later pitch tent with “her childhood dream club.”
