Novak Djokovic, the Serbian professional tennis player, has beaten Russia’s Daniil Medvedev to claim his fourth US Open singles title.
Djokovic’s triumph against the Russian makes it a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title, matching Australia‘s Margaret Court in all-time majors won.
The 36-year-old now has two clear of Rafael Nadal (22) and four ahead of Roger Federer (20).
Djokovic, who appeared in his 36th Grand Slam singles final on Sunday night at the Arthur Ashe stadium, overcame Medvedev in an enthralling three straight sets — 6-3, 7-6(7-5), 6-3 –that lasted three hours sixteen minutes.

He converted set point to claim the first set 6-3 in 48 minutes.
Djokovic thereafter won the tiebreaker 7-6 after a second set that lasted one hour, and forty-four minutes! He also won the third set to claim his fourth crown in New York.
The Serbian has also won three Grand Slam events in the same season for the fourth time (2011, 2015, 2021, 2023) after triumphing at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and now the US Open.

Djokovic’s victory made him the oldest player to win the US Open in the Open era — since Ken Rosewall in 1970.
He is expected to become the new No. 1 in men’s tennis when the new rankings are released on Monday.
