Djokovic wins 6th Wimbledon title, equals Federer and Nadal with 20th Grand Slam

Novak Djokovic staged a remarkable comeback to beat Matteo Berrettini and secure his sixth Wimbledon title win on Sunday.

The triumph was Djokovic’s 20th Grand Slam title, equalling Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s record.

The Serbian, in his seventh final at the All England Club, rallied back to beat the Italian 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, to claim his third major of the year.

The encounter is the fifth Wimbledon final involving Djokovic that has gone to at least four sets.

Berrettini took the first set 7-4 in the tie-break after coming back from 5-2 down.

Djokovic found three huge first serves to bring about three more set points to take the second set 6-4.

In the final game of the third set, Djokovic took a lot of the pace off his shots.

As Berrettini tried to generate momentum to crawl back into the contest, he could not find the inside of the court and his errors allowed the Serb to get over the line to take the third set.

The Serbian became the first man in the Open era since Rod Laver to win the opening three Grand Slams of the season and the only man to have won majors on three different surfaces in the same year.
