A high court in Kano state has fixed November 20 to hear pending application in a suit against Abdullahi Ganduje, national chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kano state government had filed an eight-count charge against Ganduje, his wife, and six other people.

They are accused of misappropriating and diverting public funds running into billions of naira.

When the case was called on Tuesday, Offiong Offiong, counsel to Ganduje, said he has not been served some court processes.

“My lord we are not ready,” NAN quoted Offiong as saying.

“We are asking for another date to move the application.”

Also, counsel to the other defendants gave similar reasons as to why the hearing should be adjourned.

Amina Adamu-Aliyu, the judge, said service of processes is very important.

Thereafter, Adamu-Aliyu adjourned the matter until November 20 to hear of all pending applications.

In 2018, Daily Nigerian, an online newspaper, published a video of Ganduje allegedly receiving bundles of dollars from contractors, which he stuffed into his “babanriga”, a traditional outfit.

The newspaper reported that the former governor requested $5 million as a bribe from the contractors who recorded the video.

Ganduje has since said the charges against him for allegedly collecting $200,000 from a contractor are “trumped-up”.
