Donald Trump, U.S. president-elect, says he will deport or jail as many as three million illegal immigrants.
In an interview with CBS, Trump noted that immigrants with criminal records — gang members and drug dealers — will be sent packing from America.
“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump told CBS.
During the election campaign, Trump had promised to deport illegals and to also build a border wall to prevent Mexicans from entering the U.S.

He reiterated this plan of his during the interview but noted that it could be a fence in some areas.
“A wall is more appropriate”in some parts but there could be some fencing,” Trump added.
The president-elect also said other undocumented immigrants would be assessed once the border was secured.

Presently, there are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US, a bulk of whom are from Mexico.
Trump is expected to take over from outgoing president, Barack Obama, on January 20 after defeating Hillary Clinton in the presidential elections of November 8.
