Abbas was born on October 1, 1963.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Musa Krishi, his special adviser on media, the speaker asked well wishes to donated the money to the needy.
“This is to inform Honourable Members, constituents, friends, family members, associates, and well-wishers of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D. that the Speaker appreciates them for their felicitations ahead of his 61st birthday,” the statement reads.

“However, the Speaker kindly requests that those planning to place congratulatory adverts on the pages of newspapers, TV stations or any other paid platform(s) for his birthday should channel the resources towards other causes in society, such as assisting the needy, considering the current situation in the country, and in line with prudent management of the meagre resources at our disposal.
“Once again, Mr Speaker appreciates everyone for their well-wishes and prayers at this moment.”
