Don’t allow PDP survive another four years, APC urges voters

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to put an end to the 16-year-reign of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing a rally at the Liberation stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, on Thursday, Muhammadu Buhari, APC presidential candidate, urged Nigerians to vote out PDP at all levels in the forthcoming election.

“I will like you to go and seat even in group and reflect very seriously on how much Nigeria earned in the last 16 years of PDP rule and how much your respective states earned and find out if what is on ground is satisfactory,” he said.

“If the leadership of the ruling party that has been in charge of most of the states and the centre has been responsible and responsive to the requirements of this country, there wouldn’t have been so much insecurity; there wouldn’t have been so much poverty in this country.

“If for any reason, you make the mistake of voting the PDP in any state or contribute to their success anywhere in the centre,  I can assure you that you are going to regret it because there will be more unemployment and more insecurity.

“If you allow PDP to survive either at the state level or at the centre, you will not be glad you did. I am here only to make some emphasis, which you know because you are experiencing it.”

Buhari further described corruption as the bane of the society, advising Nigerians not to allow the social vice destroy the country.

“When I came here the last time, I spoke of three fundamental things about this country and they are corruption, insecurity and the state of the economy,” he said.

“When the PDP came, the mega watt was about 3000 and after spending more than $20 billion in the last 16 years, we still don’t have up to 4000 mega watt. Where is that money? Corruption has taken all of that.

“Look at how the naira is tumbling down. Those of you who are business people, you know how many trailers of naira you need to go and change in order to buy machinery, establish a factory, buy essential raw materials and get competent management.

“These are very serious issues and I want you to be serious about this country because you don’t have any other country. If we miss this opportunity, we will be the worst for it. God forbid, if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill this country.

“If you vote for the APC on March 28 and April 11, we will drive back into building infrastructure. With my experience in the petroleum industry, Nigeria is more of a country than a petroleum country. We have no business having no electric power in this country.”

Dakuku Peterside, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Rivers, who spoke on behalf of all the gubernatorial candidates in the south south, said the party would give Buhari 70 percent of votes in the region.
