The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the claims of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that President Muhammadu Buhari wants to be the sole candidate in the 2019 presidential election.
The PDP had alleged that the crisis rocking its house is part of plots by the APC to present Buhari as the only candidate in the forthcoming election.
Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the opposition party, had said: “President Buhari wants to be the sole candidate in 2019; that’s why they (APC) want to cause crisis in our party. We are going to stand as a party and we are going to fiercely contest elections in 2019.”
But reacting, Bolaji Adullahi, spokesman of the APC, said the claim “makes no sense” and should be ignored.

He told TheCable that such claim is not in tune with the principle of democracy “on which our party (APC) is built”.
“The accusation that President Buhari wants to be a sole candidate does not even make sense,” he told TheCable on phone.
“It is presumptuous and inconsistent with the principle of internal democracy on which our party is built.

“But expecting the PDP to understand internal democracy would be asking for too much.”
