Don’t mess with Fed Cup time table, NFA warns states

The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Thursday warned football associations in the 36 states and the FCT not to default on the 2014 Federation Cup schedule.

A statement issued by Ademola Olajire, NFA Assistant Director of Communication, cautioned the states against altering the date for final matches of the preliminaries.

“Some weeks ago, the NFA rolled out the schedule for this year’s competition, making it clear that states must play their final matches on or before May 4,” the statement said.

The statement quoted Ruth David, Head of Federation Cup, as saying that the NFA would not tolerate any case of default on the schedule.

“It is important that all states conclude their competitions this weekend and let us have the two representatives for the national finals.

“We will not have any state saying it has postponed its final matches or shifted some games to a different date.

“This year is quite busy for the NFA, with so many programmes within and abroad.

“We want to keep firmly to the schedule and play the final match on Sunday, Aug. 3, as has been announced,” the statement quoted David as saying.
