The Lower Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Network has vowed to stop the alleged plot to remove Paul Boroh as special adviser to the president on Niger Delta.
Earlier in the week, there were rumours that Boroh, who also coordinates the amnesty programme, had been replaced.
But in a statement on Friday, Godspower Oweifawari, spokesman of the ex-agitators, said the plot to remove Boroh is still on.
Accusing an influential minister from the region of being behind the plot, Oweifawri said if not checked, the move could plunge the region into another round of crisis.

“A non-partisan group, Niger Delta Amnesty Vendors Forum ( NDAVF) on Tuesday debunked the recent fallacious reportage in some section of the media celebrating the sack of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Coordinator, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (rtd).
“The group said the fake news was sponsored by a league of mischief makers.
“Recent high powered delegations of stakeholders within the Niger Delta to the embattled Special Adviser and the Port Harcourt protest of Amnesty beneficiaries on Wednesday against efforts to frustrate the programme corroborate the fact that all is not well at the amnesty office.”

Oweifawri said in the last few weeks, those desperate to have Boroh replaced have put the presidential aide under serious pressure.
“The peace in the Niger Delta does not need to be violated on the altar of partisanship. Those behind this plot must be warned from plunging the region and country to violence,” he said.
“Politics is not do-or-die. Anyone who cannot command popular followership should either learn the ropes or quit the stage. Strong-arm tactics and the Incitement of violence has no place in modern politics. President Buhari should call his men to order.”
