Double honour for Sahara Group GMD as he receives national award, NSE fellowship

President Muhammadu Buhari will confer the national award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) on Kola Adesina, group managing director, Sahara Power Group.

This was made known in a letter dated September 19, 2022, signed by George Akume, minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs.

The MFR is one of the most prestigious awards instituted by the National Honors Act No. 5 of 1964, during the first Nigerian republic, to honour Nigerians who have rendered meritorious service to the nation.

According to the letter, Adesina would be awarded on October 11 in Abuja alongside other selected Nigerians whom the federal government consider worthy of national honour.

“I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the conferment of the National Honours on you, in the rank of
MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic),” the letter reads in part.

Also, Adesina has been awarded the honorary fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

In a statement signed by Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil, the NSE president, Adesina was recognised for his contribution to the promotion of engineering and other commendable achievements.

“I am pleased to inform you that, in recognition of your immense contribution to the promotion of engineering and other laudable achievements, the Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) at its meeting of September 15, 2022, found you worthy of Conferment as an Honorary Fellow of the Society,” the letter reads.
