DSS: Boko Haram planning to bomb Abuja with petrol tankers

Less than two months after Boko Haram unleashed terror on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Department of State Security Services (DSS) has revealed that the sect is planning to launch another attack on the nation’s capital.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, Marilyn Ogar, deputy director, DSS; and Mike Omeri, coordinator, National Information Centre, admonished residents of FCT to be on the alert.

They disclosed that the sect intends to load petrol tankers with improvised devices and bomb different places in the FCT.

“The Nigerian Security services has received intelligence report to the effect that insurgents intends seizing petrol tankers and plant improvised devices in the tankers and drive them to crowded places in Abuja,” Omeri said.

“Against this backdrop, we hereby call on the Petrol Tankers Association to be on the red alert and advise their members to report any attempt or seizure of their vehicles to security agencies. In this wise, Nigerians are also advised to report any broken down tanker in any part of the territory to security agencies.”

Ogar assured Abuja residents of safety, maintaining that the security agencies are fully prepared to foil any attack.

However, she sought the cooperation of the public through providing relevant information.
