Nwachinaemere Ozuzu, an officer with the Department of State Services (DSS) in Imo state, has been shot dead.
Ozuzu, sources told TheCable, was killed on Monday along Owerri-Onitsha road while heading to Nnewi, Anambra state, on official duty.
The operative was said to have been deployed to Anambra alongside other operatives, hours after a DSS office was set ablaze in Nnewi.
A family member of the deceased told TheCable that the DSS said Ozuzu was “accidentally shot”.

“Director of DSS showed me where he was shot at his arm, but when I got there, I discovered he was shot in the chest four times,” he said.
“A source inside the DSS told me it was an accidental discharge by a security operative.
“I demand for justice for my late brother, who was killed in this manner while serving this nation. I want those behind his death to be brought to book.”

Another relative of the deceased alleged that Ozuzu’s death might be as a result of “rancour in his office over the deceased’s recent promotion”.
When contacted, Michael Abattam, Imo police command spokesperson, said he had no information on the issue.
Efforts to get comments from the DSS were not successful at the time of this report.
