The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Wale Adedayo, the suspended chairman of Ijebu east LGA of Ogun state.
Adedayo was released on Monday after spending three days in the custody of the secret police.
He was detained on Friday at the DSS headquarters in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital, for writing a letter in which he accused Dapo Abiodun, governor of the state, of hijacking funds meant for LGAs.
The suspended chairman alleged that LGAs in the state have not received allocations for the last two years.

The letter went viral and elicited mixed reactions on and off social media.
Last Thursday, seven councillors of the Ijebu east legislative council suspended Adedayo over allegations bordering on maladministration and financial mismanagement.
The councillors accused him of withdrawing “N4 million from LG account for empowerment in 2022, which never took place”.

Amid the controversy, the suspended LGA chairman honoured the invitation from the DSS office in Abeokuta last Thursday but was not detained.
Twenty-four hours later, Adedayo returned to the DSS office and was detained.
On Sunday, Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, called on the DSS to release Adedayo, while asking the Ogun governor to sue the chairman for libel.
The suspended chairman was welcomed to his LGA by supporters, who were seen in a video singing and dancing.
