Alleged victim of rape
The Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) says the suspect who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in the Alakuko area of Lagos is now in police custody.
In a statement published via X on Friday, DSVA said the Lagos state police command is investigating the incident.
“We appreciate everyone who brought the tragic incident of child sexual abuse in Alakuko, Lagos to our attention,” the agency wrote.
“The survivor is receiving comprehensive medical care, and the suspect is currently in police custody.”

On Tuesday, a clip of the aftermath of the alleged rape went viral on X. The suspect was identified as the son of the survivour’s landlord.
The video sparked outrage, with many social media users demanding justice for the young girl.
Reacting to the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said the suspect escaped when operatives arrived at the house for his arrest.
