D’Tigress defeated Argentina 75-70 to sail through to the quarter-final of the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Tenerife, Spain.
The African champions won back-to-back games to clinch second spot in Group B.
DTigress became the first African country to win two games at the group stage of a FIBA Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian team won the first quarter 18-12 but the Argentines clawed their way back into the game to win the second quarter 16-13.

Scores were even at 19-19 in the third quarter but a late drop shot from Ezinne Kalu saw Nigeria nick a crucial point to win the nervy encounter.
Otis Hugley’s girls had an impressive 24 offensive rebounds with former Dallas Wings forward Evelyn Akhator bagging 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The team will now face Greece on Wednesday.
