D’Tigress have been drawn in a “tough group” against the United States of America, Japan and France in the basketball event of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The draw was held on Tuesday at the Patrick Beauman’s house in Mies, Switzerland.
The Olympic Games basketball tournament will be held from July 25 to August 7, 2021 at the Saitama Super Arena, Tokyo.

The D’Tigress’ three opponents in group B are ranked higher than the Nigerian side.

USA, France, and Japan are ranked number one, five, and ten in the world respectively while Otis Hughley’s girls are number 14 but rated first in the continent.
Korea, Serbia, Canada, and Spain are drawn in group A while Australia, Puerto Rico, China and Belgium are in group C.
Meanwhile, D’Tigers have only Australia as their opponent in group B as the two other teams in the Nigerian men’s basketball national team will be determined by qualifying tournaments in Serbia and Croatia.
D’Tigress and D’Tigers are Africa’s only representatives in basketball at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
