Surprise inclusion in Stephen Keshi’s provisional list for 2014 World Cup, Osaze Odemwingie, has expressed delight that his international football exile is finally over.
The 32 year-old striker has had a topsy-turvy relationship with Nigeria’s football management, but he has mended broken bridges with them and can now look forward to facing Stoke City colleague Asmir Begovic when they play Bosnia in the group stage.
Odemwingie, who is expected to survive the cut when Nigeria’s provisional squad is trimmed before FIFA deadline day, eagerly awaited the release of the list.
“I had a quick look at my phone because I knew it was coming out,” he said.

“I saw the manager last week, so I have been in touch and I was expecting things to be good. I’m looking forward to rejoining the team again and hopefully my good form will continue to the national team as well.”
Nigeria’s first match at the World Cup is against Iran at Arena da Baixada, Curitiba on June 16, 2014.
