Ebonyi house of assembly impeaches speaker

The Ebonyi State house of assembly on Monday impeached Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku as speaker.

Following a motion moved by Hon. Chris Usulor, a representative of Ezza south constituency, seconded by Hon. Enyi C. Enyi of Ezza north-west, Nwazunku was impeached.

Eighteen out of the 24 members of the assembly had lifted the suspension of three members of the house before carrying out the impeachment.

Hon. Frank Onwe, Hon. Eni Uduma Chime and deputy speaker, Hon. Blaise Orji, had been suspended on April 30 for alleged acts of insubordination and attempt to cause disaffection between the legislature and the executive in April.
