Edo condemns ‘attempted attacks by thugs on INEC office’

The Edo government has expressed concerns over alleged attempts by political thugs to attack Independent National Electoral Offices (INEC) offices in some LGAs across the state.

NAN reports that Chris Nehikhare, commissioner for communication and orientation, spoke on Friday at a news conference in Benin City, the state capital.

Nehikhare said the political thugs also attempted to seize control of INEC offices in Oredo, Etsako west, and Esan west LGAs.

The commissioner thanked security agencies for foiling the alleged attempts, urging them to extend similar interventions to the remaining LGAs in the state.

Nehikhare said residents would not be intimidated or deterred by the actions of political thugs and encouraged them to come out en masse to exercise their right to vote.
