The Edo state Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs) has launched a one-month software engineering training programme for youths to foster a digital economy.
Ukinebo Dare, EdoJobs managing director, announced this during a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to the agency, the training programme, ‘Edojobs on-ramped,’ will prepare beneficiaries to gain sponsored entry positions as software developers in the third batch of the Edo Tech Park project.
The Edo Tech Park, launched in December 2020, aims to train a minimum of 15,000 software developers within four years in the state.

In partnership with Decagon, a Lagos-based software engineering and leadership training institute, the project is part of the digital economy’s drive of Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state.
“The Edo State Government through Edojobs has commenced an intensive training to prepare beneficiaries to gain sponsored entry into the Edo Tech Park, as the third cohort of its software engineers’ training programme, in partnership with Decagon,” Dare said.
“The programme, which commenced on Monday, July 12, 2021, will span through one month to prepare the participants for the 6-months software engineering programme that would certify them to undertake jobs for local and international companies.

“During the 30-day period, participants will have access to resources and mentorship from the team of dedicated facilitators from Decagon, in line with Governor Obaseki’s plan to make the state a hub for human capacity development and reposition it as the technology outsourcing nerve centre in Africa”.
