Edo PDP raises alarm over continuous attack on members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attacking its members and supporters in the state.

Addressing journalists on Sunday, Chris Nehikhare, publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, alleged that the APC has continued unwarranted attack on its members across the state.

He said the recent attack was on its members and supporters in Agbede, in Etsako west local government at the house of its leader, Jah Usman and Ekpedo, ward 3 in Akoko-Edo local governments of the state.

The PDP spokesperson alleged that the attack increased following the results of the opinion poll sponsored by the APC.

“APC unknown to us commissioned a reputable poll company to carry out an opinion poll to ascertain its chances of winning the governorship election. But the result showed that the PDP wins overwhelming in at least 16 out of the 18 local governments, leaving only two councils for APC in the state,” he said.

“So they are perpetuating the violence with a view to get the election postponed. We want the election to hold.”

Ikhine, who urged eligible voters in the area to vote PDP and protect their votes for continuity, maintained that PDP is sure of victory at the poll due largely to the number of trusted and reliable personalities it parades.
