Edo Queens, champions of the 2023/24 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), will earn at least $150,000 for participating in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The African football governing body announced a 52 percent increase in the prize money for this year’s edition of the continental cup in a statement on Thursday.
The competition winner will receive $600,000, while runners-up get $400,000.
The remuneration for the third-placed and fourth-placed teams will be $350,000 and $300,000 respectively.

The club that crashes out in the group stages will earn between $200,000 and $150,000, depending on their position on the final ranking.
Edo Queens qualified for the competition after thrashing the Benin Republic’s Ainonvi FC 3-0 in the final of WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The ladies are drawn in Group B against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Egypt’s FC Masar, and CBE of Ethiopia.

The 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League is scheduled to run from November 6 through November 23 in Morroco.
Edo Queens landed in Casablanca, Morocco’s capital, on Thursday ahead of their first game against CBE of Ethiopia on Sunday.
The team’s second game of the group will be against Egypt’s FC Masar on Wednesday before playing Mamelodi Sundown on November 17.
Edo Queens will be the third Nigerian side to feature in the tournament, after River Angels in 2021 and Bayelsa Queens in 2022. None of them progressed beyond the group stages.
