Edo Queens have qualified for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The 2023/24 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions achieved the feat after trashing Benin Republic’s Ainonvi FC 3-0 in the final of WAFU B zonal qualifiers on Friday at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire.
The Benin Arsenal qualified for the final after defeating Inter FC of Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 on Tuesday.
The NWFL champions also dominated their group in progressing into the knockout phase of the qualifiers. They won all three group matches, scoring nine goals and conceding none.

The team carried their impressive form into the final and scored the first goal a few minutes before halftime. Suliat Abideen rolled a curler into the net from the edge of the opponent’s box, and the onslaught began.
Early in the second half, Emem Essien doubled Benin Arsenal’s lead before the team tied the match to make the score 3-0.
Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, which will be held later in the year. The host country of the competition will be decided at the CAF general assembly in October.

The team will be the third Nigerian side to feature in the tournament, after River Angels in 2021 and Bayelsa Queens in 2022.
