The Edo government says it has successfully contained the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, as it has just one active case in isolation.
Andrew Obi, the incident manager of the Edo COVID-19 task force, disclosed this during a meeting chaired by Godwin Obaseki, governor of the state.
Obi said the state has continued to record a decline in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and fatalities, adding that there has also been an impressive recovery rate, which indicates that the outbreak has been contained in the state.
According to the incident manager, Edo has so far collected 31,843 samples and recorded 2,197 confirmed cases, with 2,123 recoveries, and 73 deaths since December 1, 2020, when the state started tracking the second wave of the pandemic.

He advised residents to continue to adhere to the safety protocol, and urged those with COVID-19 symptoms to contact the Edo emergency operation centre for assistance.
