Ikedi Ohakim, former Imo state governor, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), TheCable has learnt.
According to Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, Ohakim was arrested “this morning” at his Asokoro residence.
“Yes it is true Ohakim has been arrested. He was picked up this morning from his residence at Asokoro,” he said.
Regarding the charges against the former governor, Uwujaren simply said: “There has been an investigation we have been conducting for some time now and we needed him to respond to some issues.”

TheCable gathered that Ohakim had failed to honour a prior invitation from the commission, hence his arrest on Thursday.
Ohakim is among other former governors, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Amodu Sherrif of Borno who have been grilled by the EFCC this year.
