The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Saminu Turaki, a former governor of Jigawa state.
Operatives of the commission reportedly picked him up in Abuja during the public presentation of a book on Zakariya Maimalari, a senior army officer at the time of the 1966 military coup.
The anti-graft agency declared Turaki wanted for failing to appear in court over allegations of fraud.
In 2011, the EFCC arraigned Turaki before a federal high court in Dutse, Jigawa state, in connection with a case of alleged criminal conspiracy, stealing, money laundering and misappropriation of funds to the tune of N36billion only.

Turaki, who was a senator between 2007 and 2011, “has continuously evaded appearance in court,” the commission had said at the time he was declared wanted in 2014.
He was governor between 1999 and 2007.
