The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday failed to arraign Gabriel Suswam, former governor of Benue, at a federal high court sitting in Abuja, as scheduled.
The anti-graft agency had said on Tuesday that it would arraign the former governor on Wednesday, but TheCable gathered that the case had not been assigned to a judge yet.
Journalists had arrived as early as 8:30am for the case. However, as of 12pm it was yet to come up at the court.
On October 2, the agency had filed a nine-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N3.1bn against Suswan at the court.
Suswam and Omodachi Okolobia, his former finance commissioner, are alleged to have diverted proceeds of the sale of shares of the Benue state government and Benue Investment and Property Company Limited.
According to the EFCC, the offence is punishable under section 15(3)the money laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 as amended in 2012.
