Abdulkarim Chukkol, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), says the agency is ready to sustain its partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Chukkol spoke in Abuja on Monday during a meeting with Oliver Stolpe, the UNODC country representative.
According to a statement by Wilson Uwujaren, the commission’s publicity and media head, Chukkol said EFCC is committed to working with critical stakeholders in the actualization of UNODC’s mandate in Nigeria.
The acting EFCC chairman also appreciated the UNODC for its long-standing collaboration and partnership in the anti-corruption space.
He added that the EFCC has already started preparation for participation in the 10th session of the conference of the states’ parties (CoSP) coming up in December.
The UNODC has over the years supported the efforts of the agency in driving Nigeria’s fight against corruption through institutional and capacity-building initiatives for personnel.
While speaking during speaking, Stolpe, who felicitated with Chukkol on his new appointment, said Nigeria must demonstrate leadership at the upcoming CoSP by presenting an overview of the implementation of the UNConvention against Corruption (UNCAC).
Stolpe also reminded the acting EFCC chairman of the commission’s commitment to supporting the dissemination of the third national corruption survey report.
