Ibrahim Mehleb, prime minister of Egypt, submitted the resignation of the country’s cabinet to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday.
al-Sisi accepted the resignation but asked the cabinet to remain in a caretaker role until a new government is formed.
Al-Ahram, the state-run newspaper, has tipped Sherif Ismail, the outgoing petroleum minister as the next prime minister.
Mehleb was appointed prime minister last year after serving as minister of housing.
