The Pharaohs of Egypt have regained the top spot in Group G ahead of the Super Eagles of Nigeria after a 5-1 win over Chad in Ndjamena in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.
In Hector Cuper’s competitive debut as Egypt manager, the Pharaohs notched an easy away after a hat-trick from Basem Morsi and a goal each from Mohammed Sallah and Mahmoud Kahraba.
The result sent the seven-time African champions back to the top of the group on six points, with Nigeria lying second on four points following their goalless draw in Dar Es Salaam with Tanzania on Saturday.
Nigeria will play Egypt twice in March, with Tanzania and Chad also facing off in back-to-back games.
