Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, has donated cows and foodstuffs to inmates in various custodial centres in the state, ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Presenting the items on Tuesday, the governor said the gesture would give the inmates a sense of inclusion.
The governor who was represented by Azumi Namadi-Bebe, chairperson of the committee on prerogative of mercy in the state, assured the inmates of government’s continued support.
“We will continue to provide the dividends of democracy to all and sundry, and these category of citizens will not be left behind,” Yusuf said.

Receiving the items, Suleiman Inuwa, controller of Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) in Kano, appreciated the state government for the gesture.
Inuwa said NCoS would partner with the state government to improve the criminal justice administration in the state.
“Putting smiles on the faces of the inmates will motivate them to become productive and law abiding citizens after serving their jail terms,” Inuwa said.
