Eight persons have been reportedly abducted during attacks by bandits on communities in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto.
Confirming the development to TheCable on Wednesday, Musa Muhammad, head of the vigilante group in Sabon Birni, said the first attack occurred at about 12 am on Tuesday.
Muhammad said the bandits kidnapped three children and stole some cattle during the attack.
“Armed bandits attacked Takatsaba village around 12 midnight on Tuesday. They kidnapped five residents and also rustled cows and sheep,” he said.

“Among the persons abducted are three children of one Abdu Singa in Takatsaba in Sabon Birni eastward, Sabon Birni LGA.”
Also confirming the other attack, Lukman Iliyasu, a resident of Sabon Birni, said the bandits invaded the village on Tuesday and also attacked Garki village on Wednesday.
Iliyasu said three residents were kidnapped while on their way from Garki to Masawa village in Sabin Birni LGA.

He said the attack occurred at about 9 am on Wednesday.
“Yes, the story is correct, the bandits kidnapped five persons from Takatsaba village on Tuesday night and another similar event happened today. They abducted three persons in Garki village of Sabon Birni
“They kidnapped them when they were on their way to Masawa village, that was around 9 am today.”
When contacted, Sanusi Abubakar, police spokesperson in Sokoto, said he was not aware of such an incident but promised to get back to TheCable with information.

“Well, I didn’t receive any official briefing on that but let me confirm and get back to you,” Abubakar said.
