Eight dead after wall collapses at stadium in Senegal

Eight people have died and at least 49 are injured after a wall collapsed at a football stadium in Senegal.

The incident occurred at the end of Saturday’s League Cup final between Stade de Mbour and Union Sportive Ouakam at Demba Diop stadium in Dakar, BBC reports.

With the score 1-1 after 90 minutes, Mbour scored in the first period of extra time to win 2-1, and violence broke out at the final whistle.

Police fired tear gas at clashing supporters from both teams who were throwing objects, and panic spread in the stadium leading to a collapse of the wall.
