From ‘Eji Owuro’ to ‘Imuse’, Sola Allyson drops seventh album for free

Sola Allyson, indigenous gospel singer and trained musicologist, has released her seventh studio album, Imuse, for free.

Since releasing Eji Owuro in 2003, the Nigerian folk and soul singer, has released five other albums; Gbe Je F’ori (2005), Ire (2007), Im’oore (2009) and Adun (2012), before Imuse in 2018.

The 11-track album, which was released on Thursday morning, chronicles Allyson’s salvation story and the many benefits of a life in Christ.

According to the Eji Owuro vocalist, said she had a nudge from “the most senior partner” to let the album go out for free, and she is willing to follow the nudge.

“So, after all had been put in place towards the release of my 7th Album, ÌMÚSE, I felt a nudge, a prodding by The most senior partner to release it for free!!! Yee!,” she wrote on Instagram.

“For what? How? Why? That what happened? It doesn’t make sense! How on earth? When it’s not that my works don’t sell! My world is always waiting for my songs! Well, my intellect fought, wriggled, struggled… The money spent, time, energy, money! Ha, my expectations!

“I tried to block it off my mind, and went ahead to discuss and “finalise” with Marketers… But my heart, which is sold out completely to nudging from Above, had to give in! And I have peace!

“So, if I don’t give in to directions from the realms of The Giver of my gift, whom should I give in to? Fleeting flings with materialism? All these things shall be added!

“Well, l’oro kan sha, in summary, ÌMÚSE would be yours for free! Ha, o já mi l’ara je! But I am sure GOD Is faithful and all is working together for the completion of the big picture! ÌMÚSE!”

The album, which is now available on her YouTube channel and her Soundcloud and Boomplay accounts, features Adekunle Gold on the track Alujanjankijan.

She went on to speak more about “the most senior partner”, and highlighted that ITunes, Spotify and Spinlet have refused to let the album go out for free.

“Then, if/when we meet, or somehow, the CD would be in your hands. And, oh, you’ll be blessed, refreshed and assured. ÌMÚSE is blessed! ITunes, Spotify and Spinlet platforms are not free though, they said they cannot accommodate that,” she added.

“By the way, do you know The most senior partner? Have you met Him? It would be nice and would do you good! ÌMÚSE would introduce you and draw you the more to Him! Pray for me! I look Up for strength! I am sure of His goodness o, just this jar of clay”.

Sola Allyson is a graduate of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she studied music technology, majoring in voice and minoring in music.
