Chidera Ejuke says he hopes his move to Sevilla FC will spur his return to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

On June 17, Sevilla announced the signing of Ejuke after the winger’s contract with Russia’s CSKA Moscow expired.

The Spanish side penned a three-year deal with the 26-year-old Nigerian.

Sevilla also announced that Ejuke would be the first Nigerian to sign for the club in its 134-year history.

Ejuke said it was a “special feeling” to play such a historical role in the club’s and Nigeria’s history.

The winger, whose last invitation to the national team came during a friendly against Algeria in September 2022, added that he hopes to get back into the fold of the Eagles once again because “it’s always nice to represent your country”.

“It’s a special feeling to be the first Nigerian. But it just feels good to be part of this team, and I’m looking forward to contributing what I can,” Ejuke said.

“I hope that I can return to the Nigerian side. It’s always nice to represent your country. So, hopefully, this will be the time to do that again.”

The winger debuted for the Super Eagles in 2020 and has made eight appearances for the national team. He was part of the Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, making two appearances at the tournament.
