The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifaki-Ekiti ward two, Ido/Osi local government area of Ekiti state, has suspended Segun Oni, former deputy national chairman of the party, indefinitely.

According to a statement signed by Shina Akinloye, chairman and Taiwo Ogunyemi, secretary of the ward, Oni’s suspension followed his refusal to honour an invitation sent to him by the “fact-finding committee” of the ward over allegations of anti-party activities levelled against him.

On April 24, the leadership of the party in the ward summoned the former governor who lost the gubernatorial ticket of the party to Kayode Fayemi, the incumbent governor, in 2018.

Oni had headed to a federal high court in Abuja to challenge Fayemi’s candidature.

In his suit, Oni had claimed that Fayemi was ineligible to stand as the APC candidate because he did not resign his ministerial appointment, as the law demands, before clinching the APC ticket.

Oni also claimed that the White Paper by a judicial commission of inquiry raised by Ayodele Fayose, former governor of the state, indicted Fayemi and barred him from holding public office for 10 years.

But the supreme court struck out Oni’s suit last month.
