The Ekiti state government says it will sanction filling stations which refuse to accept transactions done through point of sale (PoS) machines.

Omotayo Adeola, special adviser to the governor, spoke on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with the state petroleum task force and representatives of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

She said the measure has become necessary to reduce the inconveniences caused by the scarcity of naira notes following the redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Adeola implored the people of the state to lodge their complaints against any erring filling station through the WhatsApp Number – 0807 777 2323.

“Residents could make a video call through the above number to report such erring operators for prompt action by the State Petroleum Task Force,” NAN quoted her as saying.

Ayodeji Adesokan, chairman, Ekiti state petroleum task force, and Olumide Jegede, NUPENG chairman, pleaded with petroleum marketers to heed the warning.
