Segun Oni, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti, has secured the highest number of votes cast in the polling units of two lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sorting and counting of votes is underway across polling units in the state’s LGAs.
In the result as announced on Saturday by presiding officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oni polled 253 votes at polling unit 3, ward 1, Ido Osi LGA — this is the polling unit of Olubunmi Adetunmbi, APC senator representing Ekiti north.
Similarly, Oni won the polling unit of Richard Bamisile, APC lawmaker representing Emure/Gbonyin/Ekiti-east at the house of representatives.

At polling unit 5, ward 5, Ekiti-east LGA (Bamisile’s polling unit), the SDP candidate got 87 votes to surpass Biodun Oyebanji, the APC candidate, who garnered 74 votes and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 63 votes.
Oni also won his polling unit in ward 2, Ido-Osi LGA, securing 218 votes to beat the other contenders.
Sixteen governorship candidates are currently vying for the top seat, while election is taking place across the 16 LGAs of the state.
